Bringing an iconic figure to life
with generative AI

Last September, we launched unique items: smart magnets that bring historical figures to life. Sold in cultural and tourist institution shops, these souvenirs offer visitors a unique opportunity to converse with artists, actors, or other notable historical figures.

Today, we invite you to delve into the behind-the-scenes of our collaboration with Val d’Oise Tourism, with whom we developed an smart magnet featuring Vincent Van Gogh.

What is a smart magnet?

Unlike any other standard magnet, smart magnets are equipped with generative artificial intelligence. It’s this technological power that allows visitors to start a conversation with the depicted character.

On the front of the packaging, the visitor finds all the information needed to use the smart magnet: instructions for how to engage in a discussion with the character, examples of questions if they’re lacking inspiration, and the different languages available.

On the back of the magnet is a QR code. Scanning it opens a chat interface, where the user can ask anything to the character. Questions can be asked in writing or orally, and the language can be changed at any point in the conversation.

Where does the information come from?

The authenticity of the information conveyed by our characters is a top priority.

Our technology is designed with a rigorous control systemensuring the accuracy of the data transmitted to the artificial intelligence. In this way, we enable institutions to contribute to knowledge sharing while maintaining impeccable scientific accuracy.

Within our team, art historians play a central role in meticulously writing the characters’ biographies. Their work is based on sources provided by the institutions, and their expertise ensures the quality and precision of the disseminated information.

In the case of Val d’Oise Tourism, we also submitted our work for evaluation by Wouter Van der Veen, a renowned expert on Van Gogh.

What are the advantages of smart magnets?

These technology-packed items offer several advantages for both institutions and visitors.

For touristic destinations, these objects are much more than just a souvenir. They smartly integrate into the customer journey, ensuring continuity after the visit. Visitors can thus extend their experience by taking with them a tangible reminder of their exploration. This avoids any post-visit disconnection, thus maintaining engagement.

In the broader context of the tourist service chain, these magnets play a key role in ensuring a continuous experience for visitors. Their portability makes them an ideal choice for travelers.

Their utility also extends to self-learning, as the user is in control of their experience by asking whatever questions they wish. These objects become playful tools, offering a captivating way to deepen knowledge.

Economically, these AI objects remain affordable, costing less than 10 euros. This affordability allows institutions to generate revenue, providing a significant economic advantage.

Testimonial from Val d’Oise Tourism

On the 133rd anniversary of Vincent Van Gogh’s death, we collaborated with Val d’Oise Tourism to create a memorable experience that transcends a mere visit.

In less than a month, over 100 magnets were sold at the tourism office, and their success is spreading quickly. Soon, these magnets will be available in other iconic institutions of Auvers-sur-Oise.

The following press campaign was not only successful but also reinforced Val d’Oise Tourism’s position as a pioneer in tourism and cultural innovation.
